UV prints on aluminium board, plastic bottles, video
Knot Island II was a second iteration of my ongoing research of
possibilities of Google Maps footage of the Pacific. I made
collages out of atolls, which form irregular
rings, using their linearity and closedness as a case study
for knotting and other manipulation. I also made a tower of
prints with blue plastic bottles of sparkling water as columns.
“The artist, currently a doctoral student at FaVU BUT,
installed his visually attractive photo collages, objects and
videos in the gallery, showing tangled and cycled nodes,
made from satellite images of Pacific atolls. An author who
is interested in mathematics and current philosophical
trends is experimenting with the representations of
space used here or critically speculating on its “other”
dimensions, such as communication networks or
capitalism. That nodality is then an artistic metaphor for
the complexity, difficulty or grasp of these spheres.”
